Type Locality and Naming
By the Shayan, S. Tamdytau, Central Kyzylkum. Z.M.Abdazimova et al., 1992 (10, pp. 4-5).
Synonym: Shayandin Series, Шаяндинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Clayey-siliceous slates with horizons of flaggy cherts, interlayers of limestones and aleuropelites. Thickness 65-80m.
This suite was assigned by I.M. Nigmadzhanov to the carbonate-siliceous deposits of the Darbazatau and Sangruntau mountains, Thickness 150-300m.

Overlain with deep erosion by the Murynkuduk Fm.
Regional extent
Central Kyzylkum, north Tamdytau, basin of the Azhrikti, Dzhamankyngyr rivers, Kynkyr area, Shayan city, along the northern foothills of the Muruntay ridge, Murynduk area. Stratotype in the Shayan area.

Fossils
Contains conodonts - Gnathodus bilineatus bilineatus Round., Palmatolepis perlobata schindewolfi Mill, P. glabra pectinata Zieg, P. minuta minuta Br. et M., Palmatodella delicatula Stauff., P. perlobata perlobata Ulr. et Barr. and others of the Middle Devonian-Lower Carboniferous; foraminifers - Archaesphaera minima Sul., Parathurammina paulis Byk.
This suite was assigned by I.M. Nigmadzhanov containing Late Devonian-Early Carboniferous (Tournaisian) conodonts - Gnathodus delicatus Br. et Mehl., Palmatodolla fragosa Br. and others; radiolarians - Umtactinosphaera aff. grandis Naz.
